Metambientalizate

Los escultores del Colectivo Grieta
Metambientalizate is a project that came to fruition through the design and construction   by Colectivo Grieta. Cindy and three of her fellow students were required to complete a project in their pursuit of a degree in visual arts. The objective was to construct a tree on a large scale from reused metal, helping to contribute to the environmental plan at the university where they study.

Preparando materiales

The group worked with materials like doors, tables, chairs, garbage bins, file cabinets, etc. They cut and painted the usable metal to build the sculpture.

Base del tronco

Inspired by the copal and cherry tree, as well as the tree of life, the duality, man and woman, D.N.A. and the triangular structure, the group created a tree of two trunks with dynamic foliage.

Escultura finalizada

At the inauguration ceremony, the tree was dedicated in memory of M.C. Salvador Cardenás Arrieta. The completed sculpture measured more than six meters high and weighed more than two metric tons. The realization of the entire project, from design through construction lasted twenty-eight months and was donated to the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolas de Hidalgo.

  1. Amazing! This is really cool and thought provoking. It will be neat to see when it is weathered, too.
